#WakeUpAndAct
We support this civic call for unity and peaceful rally in order to pressurize the political leadership of Nepal to take action and end the current political crisis. The content below is a reprint of the content from the Facebook Event Page: जाग कुम्भकर्ण ( #WakeUpAndAct )
We have been accepting the notion of “anything works” in Nepal for too long. We now assert that we refuse to be in the same state of slumber and inaction. We are aware of what is happening around us. We have been impacted in the most debilitating ways possible. We realize we are being pitched against each other. We believe the issues facing the country are of social nature. issues of equality, inclusion, political issues of reach, and development issues of hope. We demand that each Nepali person can truly dream of a better Nepal, each of us can hope that the Nepal we are marching towards is inclusive, respectful of the diversity and a fertile ground to grow. We are organizing a citizen’s rally as the launching pad for the movement towards a long series of sustained efforts for progress and development .We intend to be the watchdog from the citizen’s part, and we pledge to contribute in whichever ways possible and we ask the State to facilitate these positive actions. We want a tomorrow that is better than today. The core values of this movement are guided by basic principles of equality, inclusion, empowerment, accountability, honor, to all citizens regardless of caste, race, ethnicity, social position and geographical origin.
We are in this movement because we need to show that we are neither delusional nor cowardly to not act. We are united front of Nepalis from all ethnicity, uniting and marching to the Prime Minister’s residence because we refuse to accept the current circumstance. We will demand a peaceful resolution to the current internal gridlock. We offer our help and support to the State – we are innovators, entrepreneurs, workers, activists, people from all walks of life – for positive action. We need that promise now.
Lets awaken the Kumbhakarna within us and be part of the solution to the current crisis. Each of us is going to be the bridge between future Nepal and the present Nepal. Without your action today, there will be no “better” society tomorrow, without your action there is no future. It is time for us to ACT. What does such action mean? It means, we change what is in our sphere of influence to improve what has been wronged for decades now. It means, you will refuse to be a mute bystander while the country burns, while earthquake victims die of cold, while our friends in Terai live in strikes and fear.
This is a movement of aware citizen, this is not a movement for political gain. This is a movement from your heart, your mind because you fundamentally disagree with what is happening. It is fundamentally wrong that people are dying in streets of Terai, there are people dying due to cold in mountains. It is a movement to refuse such action or a lack of action thereof. It is from your heart to humanity, to Nepal.
Be part of the movement, be part of creating the new Nepal that you have always dreamed of. Take your first step towards our Nepal. Join, come make noise and march.
