39th Day of Protest — Situation Update
Today marks 39th day of ongoing protest across Terai/Madhes, southern plains of Nepal.
3 demonstrators injured in Rautahat
At least three demonstrators were injured in police firing and clash with policemen after hundreds of them attempted to stage demonstrations in prohibitory areas of Garuda, Rautahat on Wednesday.
Police claimed that they were forced to open five rounds of fire in the air and baton charged the agitators to bring the situation under control.
Shesh Manjur, Ram Bilasu Chaudhary and Surendra Baitha are the injured, who are being treated in a local hospital of Garuda, informed Rajkumar Das a local agitating leader.
Such a violent clashes have continued in Garuda alone since last four days.
Agitating locals and cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) also burnt copies of the new constitution in Gaur municipality.
Agitators intensify protest in Udaypur
Local cadres of UDMF and other disgruntled groups on Wednesday decided to intensify their protest in Udaypur district, which was earlier remained partial to ease local lives.
The protests have been intensified after after Kishor Sanjiv Chaudhary, a local protestor of Triyuga municipality-2, Gaighat was attacked by an unknown group of people. Currently, he is undergoing treatment in B.P. Koirala Health Institute in Dharan.
The disgruntled groups have resumed their general strike claiming that one of their party cadres was attacked by the UML and Congress party cadres. Pradip Kumar Chaudhary, coordinator of district protest steering committee alleged that their peaceful protests were being continuously disrupted by the three parties.
